For Children and Families:
Birth to Three Program
The Birth to Three program at the Center for the Deaf and
Hard of Hearing provides a broad array of services designed
to provide optimal communication development for children
who are deaf or hard of hearing as well as hearing children
with d/Deaf parents. For more information, contact the Child

In Home Services
Through Birth to Three services provided in the home, the
caring professionals at CDHH can begin working with families
and infants identified with hearing loss at a very early age
– helping to build a strong foundation for language
development almost from birth. For more information, contact

Toddler Communication Groups
Children in the CDHH Birth to Three program who are 15 months
to 3 years old have the option of attending Toddler Communication
Groups at the Center. In these groups, children with hearing
loss have the opportunity to practice their developing language
and communication skills with peers, and may receive specialized
therapy during their visits. For more information, contact

Director.
Speech-Language Therapy
Speech-Language Therapy is available to children as part of
the Kellogg Child and Family program and may be provided in
the home, during one-on-one sessions or in small groups, depending
on the child’s needs and communication goals. Services
are provided by certified Speech-Language Pathologists who
specialize in working with children who are d/Deaf and hard

Auditory-Verbal Therapy
Auditory-Verbal therapy is a comprehensive habilitation approach
focused on teaching parents of children who are deaf and hard
of hearing how to develop their child’s ability to learn
through listening with the help of technology such as hearing
aids and cochlear implants. The CDHH Auditory-Verbal program
is led by Wisconsin’s only Certified Auditory-Verbal
Therapist, Amy Lalios. For more information about Auditory-Verbal

Parent Education Workshops
At CDHH, parents and caregivers have the opportunity to attend
many special workshops and class series’ throughout
the year that focus on issues of special importance to families
with d/Deaf and hard of hearing children. To find out about

Parent Resource Center
Parents and caregivers of children who receive services at
the Center can take advantage of the Parent Resource Center,
where they can find a wide variety of information, including
community resources, facts about hearing loss and parenting
children with special needs. In addition, families may borrow

Parent/Child Sign Language Classes
CDHH offers community sign language classes specifically for
parents and caregivers who want to learn to communicate in
sign with a young child as well as classes designed for young
children to attend with their parents and youth sign classes
for children ages 9 to 14 who are interested in learning some

Music Classes
Little Movers & Shakers classes for d/Deaf and hard of
hearing children and Kindermusik Community Sign & Sing
are opportunities for children ages 6 months through 3 years
to experience the joys of music, rhythm and movement. Classes
are taught by Ruth Stuhr, certified Kindermusik instructor
and CDHH Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. To find

“Children of the Sun” Drum Troupe
As the first d/Deaf and hard of hearing drum troupe in the
country, this highly innovative program provides a unique
opportunity for young people who are deaf or hard of hearing
to learn how to play music through African drumming and perform
on stage in a variety of venues. The mission of the “Children
of the Sun” Drum Troupe is to instill confidence and
promote musical self-expression, appreciation and creativity
while learning the discipline of music. To learn more, contact

Family Learning Vacation
Family Learning Vacation (FLV) is an annual event sponsored
by CDHH where families with d/Deaf and hard of hearing children
from all over Wisconsin get together for a weekend for fun,
friendship and interesting workshops. FLV takes place at the
Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt, WI in August each year. For

Big Buddy / Little Buddy Program
The Big Buddy / Little Buddy program is designed to unite
youth with hearing loss and their families by providing opportunities
