Below is a list
of ongoing volunteer opportunities at the Center for the Deaf
and Hard of Hearing. If you would like more specific information
about any of these openings, please contact the Volunteer
Manager.
General Clean Up
Help keep our home looking beautiful by volunteering to pick
up garbage and other debris from the parking lot, lawn and
playground area. Requires someone who enjoys the outdoors
and is able to perform physical labor required of the job.
Interpreter
Are you fluent in English and Spanish? We need someone to
help interpret at outreach events, audiology and other appointments
and possibly translate brochures. Times needed will vary and
there may be the need to travel to alternate locations. Must
be fluent in English and Spanish.
Outreach
Help CDHH staff our booth at various health fairs and community
outreach events. Talk to people interested in our services,
answer questions, pass out brochures. May also involve set
up and take down of our booth. Dates and times will vary.
Must be friendly and outgoing with excellent communication
skills. Must have transportation to and from events.
Transport Donated Items
Pick up donated items from various donors and bring them to
the Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Must have reliable
transportation and valid driver's license.
Child Care Provider
Spend time caring for children while their parents attend
workshops or meetings. Children may be any age range and may
have a hearing loss. Must be reliable, dependable and have
experience and enjoy working with children. Help needed weekdays
and evenings; several different days and times available.
Must be at least 16 years old.
Greeter
Watch the front door to let people in for classes, workshops
and meetings. Must be reliable and friendly. Help needed weekdays
and evenings; several different days and times available.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Special Events
Help organize a fundraiser, solicit donations, sell tickets
or volunteer at the event. There are several events throughout
the year. Must be reliable and outgoing. For events, must
be at least 17 years old.
